The Golf Academy Driving Range & Golf Shop in Raleigh NC is one of the area’s top full-service golf practice facilities. In addition to a great practice experience and retail golf shop, The Golf Academy offers golf lessons by PGA Pro, Herman Williams, and golf club repair by Perfect Fit Golf. Custom golf club fitting is also available onsite along with custom fit, custom made golf clubs. The practice range is open to the public 7 days a week, every day but Christmas.
The Golf Academy is conveniently located on the southern tip of Raleigh on Highway 70 just a mile east of I-40 between Garner and Clayton. It’s a great practice and learning center for all skill levels and all ages.
Professional golf instruction is available year-round if you want to improve your game. However, if you are just looking to have a good time with friends, family, and colleagues, it is a great place to hang out and hit golf balls.
The Golf Academy has been a free-standing, family-owned driving range since 1997 and has one of the friendliest staffs you’ll ever meet.
Situated on over 12 acres, The Golf Academy has all the amenities you need for a well-rounded practice experience. People drive from all over the area bypassing several other Raleigh driving ranges just to practice here.
And it’s no wonder. You’ll see why once you meet the friendly staff and experience one of the largest grass tees in Raleigh, the quality practice balls and the ample, level landing area with plenty of targets. No silly distractions like bumper boats or arcade games either, just pure golf.

- 1-Acre Bermuda grass tee overseeded in winter and open year-round
- 30 artificial turf practice mats

- Challenging bentgrass putting green
- Separate Bermuda putting and chipping green
- Dedicated short game area with sand bunker and hilly terrain for training those tricky pitch shots
Unlike a lot of golf driving ranges, The Golf Academy is large enough for big hitters. Our tee and landing areas are nice and level and our yardage signs are marked in 50-yard increments from 100 yards all the way out to 300 yards. We also have a variety of easily identifiable raised target greens from as close as 50 yards to as far out as 260.
For practice balls (no recycled, restriped lake balls here) we use only new Spalding Top Flites, rotating fresh balls in every month and over 10,000 new golf balls a year.
To support all your golfing needs we have a retail golf shop stocked with name brand clubs from Ping including the Ping Custom Club Fitting System; Putters from Ping & Odyssey; Custom Wedges from Ping & Eidolon Golf; complete starter sets of golf clubs; golf bags; gloves, caps, spikes, tees, accessories and more.
Need clubs for a special junior golfer? We have boxed sets complete with irons, woods, putter and bag ready to go for junior golfers age 12 all the way down to age 3. Those sets for the 3-5 year olds are the cutest clubs you’ve ever seen.
And prices? Prices are consistently 20% off retail or better. We are as competitive as anyone in town – check around and you will see. We have one of the best and most experienced PGA Teaching Professionals in Raleigh or in all of North Carolina for that matter. 21-year veteran PGA Golf Instructor, Herman Williams, is available year-round for private golf lessons and whether you are a newbie who needs to learn the game from scratch or a frustrated veteran who needs to fix years of bad habits, he can help you and will make sure you enjoy it too. Golf schools, golf clinics and junior golf programs are also available during the main golf season from April – September.
